At this stage in our human evolution we're able to electronically manipulate images of ourselves so as to move more closely towards ( some notions of ) Perfection. Of course, portrait painters have been doing this for thousands of years, but it was a slow process that wasn't widely available to regular folks...Kings and Queens, though, faired just fine.

I think Luminar is better and perhaps has a bit more refinement, as in not giving people the porcelain-looking skin that many programs do. I mean you can make it do that, but it's not as a aggressive. I used PP in the past, but don't anymore because I felt the results always looked fake, even if you didn't go heavy-handed on things. I mean for someone who maybe is newer to photography and post processing of portraits, or perhaps doesn't know the techniques in PS/LR, it might be OK and for some things it may have its uses, like removing stray hair or adjusting eyes (as this can be done in programs like PS, but require a bit more work and skills than moving a slider) but on the whole , I was never sold on the program. i know people who use it religiously though.

Don't judge this program by the examples from their advertising. They're mostly terrible because they over-do everything. But if you use PP with a light touch, it can be fantastic. I've used it for hundreds of head-shots and portraits and my clients love the results on top of it saving me lots of time. I use it as a LR plugin but still need to jump over to PS for a few things. Less is more here, and it's easy to make someone look 10 years younger without it looking fake- if that's what you want. And stuff like brightening the iris a bit can really make eyes pop. It also supports different color spaces (I use ProPhoto) so it doesn't screw with my color management. I'd really have a hard time adjusting my workflow without this program or something very similar.

Stress concentration in materials is a common issue in various load-bearing structures as it is linked to a potential mechanical failure. Thus, unnecessary cut-outs or contaminating inclusions are typically to be avoided, as externally applied forces will (re)distribute around the obstacles, reaching potentially critically high stress values at their edges [23]. For instance, formerly square-shaped airplane windows, which have caused fatal accidents by crack initiation at the corners, crack propagation, and eventually fatigue of the fuselage [24], are now generally of oval shape.
